Marine Electrical Technician
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Marine Electrical Power & Controls Technician to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical power distribution and control systems on marine vessels. This role involves hands-on work with advanced marine electrical systems and contributing to safe and reliable vessel operations.

- Install, troubleshoot, and repair marine electrical power systems (switchboards, generators, transformers, converters, control systems)
- Perform regular maintenance and safety inspections
- Diagnose electrical faults using testing tools (multimeters, meggers, oscilloscopes, etc.)
- Work with PLCs, AC/DC drives, and power electronics
- Read and work from electrical schematics
- Support system upgrades and modifications
- Provide basic technical guidance to vessel crew when required
- Maintain service records and documentation
- Work onboard vessels, including at sea when required
- Red Seal Certification (required)
- Canadian Permanent Resident or Citizen (required)
- 5+ years’ experience in marine, industrial, or plant electrical systems
- Strong knowledge of AC/DC systems, power distribution, and wiring diagrams
- Experience with PLCs, drives, and power conversion systems
- Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and physically demanding environments (able to lift 40–50 lbs)
- Willingness to travel, work offshore/on vessels, weekends, and on-call when needed
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license with clean abstract
